Gareth Thomas, known affectionately as 'Alfie' is one of the greatest players in Welsh rugby history.

He has established himself as a legend within the game finishing an illustrious international career with 100 caps and 40 tries to his name. His achievements include winning the Grand Slam and 6 Nations as captain in 2005, which contributed to him being voted BBC Wales Sports Personality of the Year. He has also won the french and welsh league titles, and has been crowned European Champion with Toulouse.

Other highlights include captaining the British and Irish Lions in New Zealand in 2005 and on a fun side, being selected to play in a Soccer Aid Charity Football match, alongside Diego Maradona and Robbie Williams to name but a few!

Having launched his own Rugby Academies in 2005, The Gareth Thomas Academy at venues across Wales, Alfie will be spearheading the 'Sport Matters' Multi-Sports initiative with a view to promoting sport and healthy living.
